Stop Mass Incarceration

takingbackourculture:

Demonstrations in Ferguson drew people from all over the country and riveted the attention of millions.

The next critical step is on October 22: protests to Stop Police Brutality, Repression and the Criminalization of a Generation

POWERFUL protests of THOUSANDS on October 22 can further radically change how people think about what is just and unjust, what is legitimate and illegitimate, what is tolerable and what must not be tolerated in relation to this continual and horrific racist police abuse and murder…

These demonstrations must embody a spirit of telling the truth and a spirit of defiance. They must build on everything that has gone before. Youths from the inner-city high schools and youths who have been pushed out of the school system… joining with college students… with the parents of those who have been murdered and incarcerated bearing witness… along with many people of conscience who refuse to live in this kind of society …all out together. In the centers of the cities and in the neighborhoods. All over.

The Capsula Mundi concept, from designers Anna Citelli and Raoul Bretzel, uses an egg-shaped burial pod made from biodegradable starch plastic as the coffin, in which the body is placed in a fetal position and buried under the ground. A tree (or tree seed) is then planted over the top of the pod, which will use the nutrients from the decomposing body as fertilizer for its growth. Although the Capsula Mundi is still a design concept, not an actual option for those planning for their funerals (in part because of regulations about burials and cemeteries), the designers hope that in the future, this type of burial will be allowed and “memory parks” full of trees will be planted. Instead of cemeteries full of headstones, the trees would serve as living memorials to the deceased.

Resident Evil is getting a TV series
Constantin Film has announced that a TV spin off of the Resident Evil movies is in the works.
Martin Moszkowicz, the chairman of the company, stated the studio will be making the new TV series animated, along side other franchises they’ve adapted into spin-offs.
Let’s hope this is more promising than the actual films themselves.
